Policies Checklist

☐  All loose and fragile items such as table lamps, lampshades, mirrors, pictures, DVDs, stereo and computer

components must be packed in boxes prior to the movers arriving. All boxes must be taped shut or have lids. The movers will not move items in bags.

☐  Seaford Transfer will move items from/to your attic only if it has a permanent staircase and is completely floored. Our employees must be able to stand upright and the space must be adequately lit. Otherwise, it is your responsibility to have anything brought down you would like us to move.

☐  Seaford Transfer will move your gas grill, but not the propane tank. We are prohibited by federal law to move any explosives, ammunition and noxious, flammable and poisonous substances.

☐  Seaford Transfer will assume no liability for artwork, press wood products, or furniture that is in poor condition, in need of repair, or that has any pre-existing or concealed damage. Seaford Transfer will not be held liable for damages that come from disassembly or reassembly of such furniture.

☐  In order to protect the items and your residence, all furniture must be emptied of all contents. This includes four-drawer and lateral file cabinets, desks, armoires, wardrobes, buffets, cabinets, chest of drawers, and dressers. Contents should be packed in boxes prior to movers arriving.

☐  Seaford Transfer will assume no liability for the mechanical or electrical derangement of electronics or appliances unless evidenced by external damage to such equipment. The shipper is responsible for disconnecting and/or reconnecting all electronics and appliances; this includes washers, dryers, icemakers, refrigerators, freezers, stereo equipment, television sets, computers, and copiers.

☐  We will do everything possible to complete your job quickly and efficiently, however we are not responsible for delays caused by inclement weather or other unforeseen problems.

☐  Seaford Transfer will assume no liability for the retuning of pianos or readjustment of grandfather clocks.

☐  Seaford Transfer will assume no liability for damage to hard wood floors that have just been refinished and not had the appropriate amount of time to cure.

☐  Customers moving into new construction must notify the office if there are any changes to the truck access, such as the driveway not being poured or adequately cured. This may cause the estimate to go over and/or additional fees to be applied.

☐  Customers moving into self-storage facilities may want to have something available that the movers can use to cover and protect their furniture while it is stored (i.e. old sheets, towels, comforters, or blankets). We sell paper pads and can bring them out on move day if you call us in advance and request them.

☐  Customers must select a Valuation for their shipments. Basic Carrier’s Valuation covers items lost or damaged at a rate of $0.60 per pound, per article and furnished to shippers at no extra charge. Full Replacement Value Protection (FRVP) provides additional levels of valuation and is available for a premium.  Contact Seaford Transfer prior to moving to discuss valuation options.

☐  Payment in the form of cash or check is due and payable upon delivery of local shipments. Payment in the form of cash or certified check is due and payable prior to delivery of intrastate and interstate shipments. Any credit card charges must be pre-approved before move date. Seaford Transfer has a CASH ONLY policy for customers moving into self-storage facilities. If payment is not received in a timely manner, a 5% late fee will be applied to any amount left unpaid after 7 days. Interest will accrue at 1.5% monthly thereafter.

☐  CANCELATION AND NO SHOW POLICY: Seaford Transfer requests notification of any cancelation be made in a timely manner. Services canceled 48 hours or less prior to the scheduled date of service will result in a cancelation fee as follows: $75.00 or 10% of the estimated cost, whichever is greater. Failure to provide notification of cancelation prior to the date of scheduled service and/or no shows will result in a $45.00 fee per crew member dispatched in addition to the cancelation fee. Some exceptions may apply.

By signing the estimate, the Customer confirms that he/she has read the above policies and understands that these policies apply to shipments hauled under the authority of Seaford Transfer, Inc.
